Final Fantasy Resonance Ruby Cave: 3 Fragments & Carbuncle

Find the three Ruby Fragments around Olderion in order, return to the gravestone and unlock Carbuncle. Includes landmarks and common checks.

Examine the gravestone in Ruby Cave, collect three Ruby Fragments in order around Olderion, then return to that gravestone to obtain Carbuncle. This is an exploration puzzle, not a Carbuncle boss fight.

Start with the cave’s clue

Reach Olderion in Chapter 3 and interact with the gravestone before hunting fragments. Keep its current clue in mind: a random sparkle elsewhere on the world map may be an ordinary item, not the next objective.

The three fragment landmarks

OrderLook hereLandmark to check
1Southeast of Rukh CaveThe space between a large round pool and a smaller round pool
2Olderion’s east coastSouthwest of the Sanctum of Squall, near the flat grassy notches between mountains
3West of the seven waterfalls, west of AquapolisCross the two wooden bridges and climb the small grassy ledge

These landmark directions follow PowerPyx’s Esper route. Use the coastline, pools and bridges to orient yourself rather than assuming every online map uses the same screen-relative left or right.

Return and collect Carbuncle

After the third fragment, return to the original gravestone and interact again. Carbuncle joins as an Esper; this puzzle’s reward does not require defeating it. Confirm the acquisition before leaving the area.

A fragment or the reward is missing

Recheck three things: you activated the cave’s clue, you followed its sequence, and you returned to the same gravestone. Compare the current clue with the landmarks before repeating the whole circuit. We have not independently reproduced a release-version puzzle bug and do not recommend deleting saves as a fix.
