Final Fantasy Resonance Shoggoth: Why Attacks Do No Damage
Shoggoth is immune to physical attacks. Check its Earth and Water weaknesses, prepare magic damage and plan a safer optional boss attempt.
Shoggoth is immune to physical attacks. Use Earth or Water magic instead of trying to overpower it with ordinary weapon damage. Element and damage type are separate: a Water attack that still deals physical damage does not solve physical immunity.
Where to find Shoggoth
PowerPyx places this optional Cave Master in Shoggoth Cave on Dirnado, with a recommended level of 25. Treat that number as a preparation cue, not a guarantee: the party’s unlocked skills and difficulty setting matter too.
What the data confirms
| Property | Source finding | Practical meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Physical attacks | Immune | Change the attack type rather than adding physical attack power |
| Earth / Water | Weak | Prefer magic carrying one of these elements |
| Reported level | 25 | Check the entrance and your available toolkit before engaging |
The resistance information comes from NiaMeowDB’s game-file record, which retains an availability caveat; the cave location is separately supported by a release guide. We do not present the file’s exact HP values as independently tested numbers for every difficulty.
Build a useful battle plan
- Read your attack’s description and confirm it is magic damage. An elemental sword skill can still be physical.
- Give the party at least one reliable Earth or Water magic option. Match available Visions to the job; do not assume every named spell has already been unlocked.
- Keep a recovery option and MP items ready. Spending all resources on offense can leave you unable to recover.
- Watch the turn order and stagger gauge. Make survival the priority when an ally is about to fall; use an opening for damage when the party is stable.
The last two points are an editorial approach to the game’s combat, not a fixed turn-by-turn script from a playtest.
Still dealing zero damage?
Check the damage type first, then the element and currently available skill. Cloud’s Water Surge is listed as physical, for example; the word Water alone is not enough. See Best Visions for the distinction. If your current party cannot field a workable magic setup, return to the story route and revisit the cave later.
