Final Fantasy Resonance Cloud: Unlock, Stagger & Critical Skills

Find Cloud in Chapter 1 and check Water Surge, Libra, critical-hit Mastery rewards and the limits of physical elemental attacks.

Cloud is a Breaker Vision with Lightning and Water physical skills. His elemental commands remain physical damage; they are not a substitute for magic against a physical-immune target.

Unlock Cloud

Visit the Sanctum of Cloud in Grandshelt during Chapter 1 once the Vision system is available. Interact with its crystal and finish the questions. Their answers do not change the documented acquisition result.

Choose an action for its purpose

Command or effectWhat to check
Thunder Surge / Water SurgeLightning / Water physical damage
LibraEnemy information rather than direct damage
Cross-SlashPhysical attack with an additional payoff against staggered targets
AscensionLightning physical Resonance with a high critical rate

The first awakening adds stronger elemental commands and Stagger Power +20%; later stages expand the critical-hit kit. Check your menu rather than assuming all of those tools are available immediately.

Mastery rewards worth planning around

ATMA lists Restore MP on Critical Hit at MR1 (20 AP), returning 3% of maximum MP on a critical hit. Critical Stagger at MR7 (40 AP) increases stagger power on physical criticals, while Critical Boost at MR9 (40 AP) improves physical critical damage. Spirit of Cloud is MR9 and 105 AP.

Those are game-data entries, not a measured recommendation to buy every upgrade at once. Prioritize the effect your current party can trigger and pay for.

Keep the limitations in view

Deathblow has a low hit chance despite guaranteeing a critical when it lands. It is not a guaranteed hit. Water Surge still fails the damage-type check if an enemy nullifies physical attacks. In that situation, inspect Terra's magic options instead.

For a stagger plan, compare Cloud's available gauge reduction with the enemy's next action and your other members' turns. See combat timing, then check AP after changing Visions.
