Final Fantasy Resonance Difficulty: Change Modes & Compare MRP
Switch Casual, Normal or Expert in the options menu. Understand the MRP difference and the documented PlayStation trophy requirements.
Change difficulty through System → Options → Gameplay → Difficulty. Casual, Normal and Expert are choices within the same playthrough; Game8 reports that adjusting them does not require a restart.
Choose for the next task
| Setting | Useful reason to choose it |
|---|---|
| Casual | Reduce the combat barrier while progressing or learning an encounter |
| Normal | Use the baseline while testing a new party or route |
| Expert | Seek a harder fight or evaluate its increased MRP reward |
Adjusting a setting can help with a blocked boss, but keep the correct damage type and recovery plan. Difficulty does not replace the combat checks.
Compare rewards with time
Game8 and NiaMeowDB agree on 1.5× MRP for Expert, while EXP and gil do not gain that difficulty increase. Stronger enemies may slow a route. Include healing and failures when comparing total MRP against minutes.
Available guides disagree on some enemy-stat multipliers, so this page does not present those values as settled. The reward distinction above is the cross-checked basis for a practical comparison.
Does Casual block trophies?
PowerPyx's PlayStation launch roadmap reports no difficulty-dependent trophies and completion on Casual. That concerns the trophy list it documents; it is not our independent test of every platform or future patch. Use the completion roadmap for its actual targets.
Compare the same route
Set the mode, check your Visions and save before a short route comparison. Do not compare unrelated fights. A Citrine Pot is item-based but still one-time, so its reward cannot demonstrate a repeatable hourly farming rate.
